Bad Vacation

Went to the Vegas last week.... all would have been well if I hadn't caught the flu...

I was starting to get sick before I left, but I wasn't about to cancel my plans (non refundable) before my trip... so I went full force and probably made myself 10 times more sick within the first two days.

First two days @ the Aladdin casino, I proceeded to gamble a total of 11 hours @ the let it ride table... no big wins. The next 9 hours proved to be the hit... locked on 4 of a kind for $500.00 on a $10.00 bet... the pit boss cut me and my buddy off. We had been drinking since 4:30, but we were very calm and collected... they don't like to see drunk people come into money and not splurge... so we got klicked off the table.

Two nights later... full blown flu. Nothing like being 3000 miles away from home and being bed ridden in a hotel. I didn't drink, smoke, eat, or gamble for two days. Karma is a bitch I guess.

All is much better now, but I'm looking for a new job as I type... I can't believe the people @ work couldn't hold their own without me for a week.... I hope they all don't forget how to breath in the mean time.

It's about fuckin time.... OC has cleared out enough for some breathing room. It's been one hell of a summer, and I don't want another like it for a long time.

Not that I hate New York or New Jersey... but I don't want you people buying up everything for sale in my town... this was once a friendly place to live at one time... now, everybody want's to complain. Keep that shit in Jersey and New York.... you're the ones that made $80,000 properties worth $750,000. Tone it down a bit, please. You're scaring away tourism that we desperately need.... families. Families from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and other locales that you rich pricks are phasing this town out of.

Don't get me wrong, I love your money, but I miss the way this town "used to be"...

Everything that had importance, anything that had character, anything that was once a legend, is now long gone to provide $500,000 condos for a craptacular Coastal Highway view condo, or $900,000 ocean block view of another condo that's in your way of an ocean front view. For fucks sake.... I know the Hamptons is full, but take that shit elsewhere. You fuck's will pay a fat million for a pad, but you'll puke at the site of a $6000.00 bill for AC replacement.

You dicks need to realize that you are the one's that amplified the cost of business in this town... not us. Wait till you bastards get sticker shock from prices in 2006.... mandatory minimum efficiency: 13 seer... choke on the cost of having a piece of shit, over priced , shitty built condo, ocean front, that has to have the AC on the roof replaced every 5 years due to corrosion. Fuck you... we love your New York/Jersey money. Bring your money, but leave your attitude at home.... cause I don't give a fuck who you are.

Head wounds, summer, and new music

Summer is in full effect here in OC... so are long hours, annoying people, fat pay checks, and lack of sleep for me.

Since last posting it's been head on into summer mode. No time for the blog, but tonight seemed an exception for some reason. I felt it was time for an update. So without further hesitation and speaking of head on...

As of about 2:00 pm this afternoon I suffered a pretty bad head wound @ work. Was working outside of a customers house kneeling beside their heat pump... I stood up suddenly to grab my ringing phone from my side... my forehead happened to catch the razor sharp edge of a gas appliance draft hood protruding from the side wall. Not pretty.... you know that kind of cut... all white and chunky right before you bleed to death? Thank God the customer wasn't home. I went through about a whole roll of paper towels before I could get the bleeding to stop... and that was after I thought I was going to black out from the blow. So much for that nice tan I've been working on for my bald-ass head. I'll be wearing some bandaging on my upper forehead (under a hat of course) for a few weeks I think. I'm hoping for minimal scaring.

I don't think that the injury deserved medical attention (I've had enough stitches in my life to know), but if the swelling around the gash doesn't go down maybe I'll worry about the blurred vision and slurred speech I noticed I was having while talking to Gary tonight (after only one beer).

I had to call Gary to urge the purchase of the new Devildriver album. He turned me on to em' years back, we saw them in concert, and I just picked up their latest release tonight. Incredible would be an understatement. If I get the review first on PRF, this slab is gettin at least an 8.

So, I met the Fockers last night... not bad, not bad at all. Her mother is awesome... her dad is stern, stern but fair. Actually, he wouldn't talk to me. Not too sure if I care for the guy at all. But I feel like I've known her mother for years.

Anyway... big sigh of relief when I woke this morning... "meeting of the parent's is over".... check one in my plans of world domination. EXCELLENT (in a mr Burns tone)

Weather was awesome today here on the shore... so awesome that the boys and I had to play some no limit hold em' on the deck tonight. I broke even after 2 side games afterwords.

Besides that... I'm gonna nuke a pizza and call it a night.

Meet The Fockers

It's funny how things seem to tie together sometimes. It feels like just yesterday that I was playing poker with the guys and decided that it would be a "good idea" that we went to Whiskers afterwords for some post drinks. Here's a pic from that night...



I wouldn't trade that night for the world. That was about 6 months ago when I met my girlfriend. I was a retarded asshole that night (I'm not in the picture), but she decided to give me a chance.

After many dinners and dates afterwords, she realized that I was a keeper in her eyes. Thank goodness for my pathetic ass.

Anywho... After a night (tonight) of cards with her, myself, and lots of mutual friends, I find it funny how things seem to repeat themselves. Life is just a big circle of people.

To get to the point... I'm finally meeting her parents for the first time tomorrow. At this point, I'm not nervous... but when I'm sober tomorrow... that's gonna be a different story.

A Month Over Due

Where do I start... So much has been going on that I haven't had the time to write about it.

Work has been... well, work. We're getting geared up for touron season, and the business has been rapidly increasing. More and more PA, NJ, NY, and VA license plates seem to be arriving daily here on the shore. God help them for they know not that they act stupid while here.

In fun stuff: Had the first cook out of the season on Sunday. Warm weather, lots of beef products on the grille, tons of Miller Lite, a little poker tournament action, and good friends made for a wonderfull hang-over the next day... Plus, new season of Family Guy topped it off nicely.

On the home front: Unexpected expenses has yet again set back a few minor "finishing touches" on the house. Hopefully funding will come through as promised at the end of May. In other home news, my neighbors across the street still suck camel-logs. Had words with one of the 10 that live there at 1:00 am for high beaming my house with their Escalade for 30 Minuit's. They had the inside of my house lit up like the fourth of July. I was blunt and to the point... pussy neighbor couldn't take the verbal beat down and I guess had to wake some roomies. A few came outside and stood on their porch. I simply said, "don't fuck with me, and be more considerate"... walked in the house, and prepared for some foul play from the foul neighbors. Nothing has happened as of yet, but I'm still keeping a close eye on them.

In music, media, and other news: Those of you that know me well, know that I have been listening to the new Corrosion Of Conformity album since I got my hands on it a week earlier than the release date. Greg didn't give it such a hot review over @ PRF, but I've been the slack-ass that hasen't posted my opinion over there yet. Look for it in the near future. I've also been watching for a release from a band called Nightrage. The name is pretty fucking stupid, but if you heard some of the songs on their new album (not released in the US yet), you might forget about the bad name. Plus its the original singer from At The Gates, and the drummer from The Haunted (two bands I love dearly). More to be posted @ PRF.

I've rambled enough for now. I will do my best to try for a weekly update at this point. I admit that a month has been too long... In fact I caught shit from Gary last week. Sorry man, I just don't have the screen time that I used to.

After relentlesly checking and re-checking Shadows Fall's website (it's been down forever)... I noticed it was back up.

Shadows Fall is pretty much my favorite band to date. While the 1st 4 tracks on BLS's "Mafia" has been getting heavy play recently, I still managed to play "War Within" by SF six times straight through to and from my parent's house in B-more this weekend.... I still consider it one of the most powerfull metal albums to bless my collection.

While I look forward to COC's "In The Arms Of God", I'll still play some Shadows Fall over and over.

Burned Out

Ever went on vacation and just had so much fun that you can't seem to transition back into every day life again?
That would be me this week.

After getting back from Vermont late on Sunday night, my body and mind can't seem to get back into work mode this week. Thank God it's been a fairly slow week @ work.

I had an awesome time boarding in fresh powder for a couple of days, but the only injury I had was non-mountain related.... I was walking to a lower lift and slipped on some ice.... went straight down on the side of my left knee. The poor appendage is all bluish-green, has a slight swollen nature, and hurts like a bastard when I kneel down.... it was worth it though. Hope to post some pics as soon as they're developed.

Even through all the tired-ness this week, I still managed to catch 2 nights of Poker with the bros, and a half-ass St Patty's night out. 3 Beers, a burger, and working on some documents for work.... yeah, great St Patricks day, huh?
